The events listed here are compiled from various sources, including groups and individuals who send their information directly to the magazine, but the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau is our largest source of information. All area codes are in the 570 exchange, except where indicated.

Church Coffee House - UM Church, Landingville. 2nd Friday of each month. Christian singers and bands.

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary - Visitor Center: Open daily 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Jerry's Classic Cars & Collectibles - 394 S. Centre St., Pottsville. Classic cars of the 50s and 60s, and car memorabilia from all area time periods. 628-2266.

John B. Bartram Trail - Scenic walking/hiking trail that parallels the Schuylkill River from Minersville to Pottsville, then from Schuylkill Haven to Port Clinton. 628-1220.

Mahanoy & Broad Mtn. Railroad - Public model train display, Schuylkill Mall. O-scale layout based on local history. Free tours for school and scouting groups. Phone/fax 462-1456.

Pioneer Tunnel & Coal Mine - 19th & Oak Sts., Ashland. 875-3850.

Pottsville Bridge Club - Plays every Monday night, 7 p.m. at Luther Ridge at Seider's Hill. ACBL certified.

Schuylkill County Environmental Education Center - Schuylkill Co. Fairgrounds, Summit Station, one mile east of intersection 183 & 895. Groomed walking trails. Frog Hollow Env. Education Center, Friedensburg, just off Rt. 443. Woodland, creekway, wildflower walkways. 622-4124.

Schuylkill County Nature Club - Monthly walks sponsored by the Schuylkill Conservation District. Porcupine Pat, 622-4124.

Schuylkill Duplicate Bridge League - Every Thursday, 1 p.m., Luther Ridge at Seider's Hill. Bring a partner or one will be provided. Gladys Santee & B.J. Steiner, 366-2511 or 366-1378.

The Tamaqua Railroad Station - 18 N Railroad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. This beautifully restored 1874 railroad station is on the National Registry of Historic Places. It currently houses a full service restaurant, 2 unique gift shops and an official Schuylkill County Visitors Center. Visitors to the station can also see 2 cabooses and 3 restored train engines. The station is open Wednesday through Sunday.
