\n"); document.write(" Hello Schuylkill Countians everwhere! Summer is winding down as we approach mid-August but I have something fun to announce that may help make the last day of the month a great one ... At 6m, August 31st, at the Mahanoy City Elks, the folks from the Upper Schuylkill oranization are sponsoring a dinner theatre show called "Our Town, Your Home, One Heritage". This is an original musical written and performed by The Lift Your Spirits Performing Arts Group (formerly the Catholic Churches of Ashland Theatre Group). The event opens the increasingly popular end-of-summer HomeComing Weekend that includes four days worth of special events in the Upper Schuylkill towns of Ashland, Girardville, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Ringtown, and Shenandoah. Visit the Upper Schuylkill website at www.upperschuylkill.com for more information on all the events and for tickets to "Our Town, Your Home, One Heritage". The show features Schuylkill County history and culture as you haven't seen it before. From the founding of our towns, a mini Schuylkill County style wedding, coal cracker culture, and a tribute to some of our hometown heros, this show is one of a kind. It will showcase several little known songs and poems written by Schuylkill Countians over the years as well as debut several brand new numbers by the show's writers, Danny Thomas (San Antonio Rose frontman and keyboardist) and Loretta Murphy (author of The Pipes Are Calling), of Ashland. One of the new songs is a polka called "Another Firehouse Wedding". Trust me, there's nothing like a wedding in Schuylkill and this song is every Schuylkill County wedding you ever went to ... You'll also hear songs about Tamaqua, Frackville, Girardville and more ... If you want a nostalgic and fun way to start your Labor Day weekend, get yourself tickets to this premiere event. You know you love living in Schuylkill County. Be proud of it. Join us for "Our Town, Your Home, One Heritage" and remind yourself why there's no place like home in Schuylkill County. New rules for renewing the drivers license the cause. I was able to get mine renewed and photo taken, without a problem as I am a veteran, (Not a draft dodger like the bush cheney idiots destroying our country.) My oh my, soooooo handsome! Note I am referring to myself as sooo handsome! Then this month we attempted to renew my wifes, of which we are married of 52 years ,drivers license. They have a list of what you can use for identity. The only thing we had for hers as she never had a job that required a photo ID was her birth certificate and our marriage certificate. (We married each other in in PA, with a Catholic priest, in a Catholc church performing the ceromony.), first of, NJ does not honor a Catholic wedding certificate. The clerk actually stated, "It is not valid". She further insulted me by stating the certificate should NOT BEEN SIGNED BY THE PRIEST! I asked why? She indicated it must be signed by a civil worker. Asked what do I do to get a valid one, (not showing my anger to keep peace for now). Told to go to City Hall in Phila, AND MAKE CERTAIN YOU HAVE .00 CASH and they can change the license and make it valid. )"Oh, so you want me to have the original certificate marked up, and priests name crossed out, and a civil worker sign to make it valid.) I thought, No way will I have my certificate marked up like that.I left the motor vehicle agency, telling the clerk I would be back. Believe me, I was fuming. I am a Catholic, and dam proud of it!!!!! Monday I called Register of Wills in Pottsville, PA The girl was FIRST OFF, VERY COURTEOUS AND KNOWLEDEGABLE. She indicated they get as high as ten (10) calls a day from NJ with this same problem. She is arranging to have a letter sent to me indicating marriage is most certainly valid, and the certificate will not be touched or marked, (in fact, I did not have to send it.) My cost, is only .00 too, not .00 like City Hall in Phila. So now you know why people love Pottsville, PA They are polite, intelligent, honest, and will never rip a person off or ever insult them. The only reason I left Pottsville was because my company transferred me to NJ. Took a long time to get adjusted so I retired here but still miss Pottsville, PA and the surounding towns, especially Minersville and Branchdale, PA

I recently published a book about the death of my father called "No Tears for Ernest Creech" and I am looking for some caol mining magazines to get the word out about my book and I believe the people who would be the most interested in my book would be caol miners and their families. the book is aviable on amazon and other book sites. Hope you will take a look at it and maybe put an article in your magazine about it. My father, Ernest Creech, was shot down during a picket strike and his murderer was never caught.
